Sayeed for crop diversification

Stressing diversification of agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir to replace low-yield traditional farming, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed yesterday called upon scientists to educate farmers on alternative crops with better quality and greater produce.

Addressing the first convocation of the Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology here, Sayeed emphasised on continuous flow of information from laboratories to fields and asked the universities to educate farmers about advancement in the agriculture sector.

"Even our extension educators need to be educated," he said.
