The Supreme Court today admitted a petition filed by entertainment major Star India, challenging broadcast tribunal TDSAT's order directing it to provide its channels to direct to home (DTH) platform Dish TV, controlled by its rival Zee group.

A Bench comprising Justice B N Agarwal and Justice P P Naolekar issued notices to Asian Satellite Communication (ASC), which owns Dish TV.

TDSAT had on July 14 directed Star India to provide its channels to Dish TV at 50 per cent of the rates charged from the cable platform.

The tribunal had also directed Star to file a compliance within 15 days regarding the fulfillment of its order.

Interestingly, following the tribunal's direction Star had yesterday agreed to supply its 14 channel for Rs 27, a price suggested by TDSAT.

This was confirmed by Zee, which said Star had provided decoder boxes to Dish TV and added that their offer "has been accepted".
