SC issued notices to the state of Bihar, the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) and the TVNL headquartered in Patna in the case.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice K C Balakrishnan, after hearing a special leave petition filed by the state of Jharkhand challenging the order of the Patna High Court, directed the authorities to maintain status quo in the matter till August 1, when the matter would again be taken up for hearing.
Senior counsel Harish Salve, appearing for the state of Jharkhand mentioned for an urgent hearing of the case.
The Union home and law ministry had earlier announced that the ownership of TVNL should go with Jharkhand after bifurcation of Bihar on the basis of its location.
