Schedule for issuance of G-Sec announced

The government today announced an indicative calendar for issuance of government dated securities worth Rs 3.7 lakh crore for the first half of the fiscal year starting from April.

"...In consultation with the Reserve Bank, an indicative calendar amounting Rs 3,70,000 crore for issuance of government dated securities for the first half of the fiscal 2012-13 [April-September] is being issued," a Finance Ministry notification said today.

It said, the move will enable institutional and retail investors to investment efficiently and at the same time, it will provide transparency and stability to the government securities market.

"It has been decided to continue with the practice of releasing indicative calendar for issuance of government dated securities...," it added.

The week of auction data in the notification said that Rs 18,000 crore for issuance of government dated securities will be issued twice, Rs 16,000 crore four times and Rs 15,000 crore eighteen times during the April-September period.

"All the auctions covered by the calendar will have the facility of non-competitive bidding scheme under which 5% or more of the notified amount will be reserved for the specified retail investors," it added.
