SCR earns Rs 8 cr from erring passengers

BS ReporterSecunderabad-headquartered South Central Railway (SCR) has raked in a sum of Rs 8.11 crore in the form of penalties levied on ticketless/ irregular travelers during February. During the month, it confronted a total 255,000 cases, including cases of travel without ticket; 89,360 for irregular travel and 85,748 for un-registered luggage.
Irregular travel includes traveling on transferred ticket, adults traveling on child ticket, non-senior citizen travelling on senior citizen tickets, general/season ticket holder traveling in reserved coaches. "Surprise checks carried out by the flying squads of the divisions and headquarters, and the fortress checks held under the direct supervision of senior officials at major stations helped reduce ticketless travel," South Central Railway said in a release.
