With a new US warning of terror strikes in Delhi and Mumbai, security at airports all over the country has been beefed up with Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today assuring that all necessary steps were being taken to plug any loopholes.There were some delays in domestic flights due to enhanced security measures as long queues were seen at the Delhi airport.Patel told reporters that "we have nothing to fear from what is happening in London, but still we have tightened our security. Whatever the shortcomings we have with regard to security, we will rectify them".The British police and security agencies had unearthed a terror plot to blow up 10 US-bound flights from Britain yesterday.Home Secretary V K Duggal had yesterday asked top airport security officials to study new ways in which explosive materials were planned to be smuggled into planes at London's Heathrow airport and asked them to gear up to tackle these new challenges.Security at airports in the country had been tightened last month following the serial Mumbai train blasts and as part of the drill for Independence Day celebrations.Emergency anti-hijacking measures had been put in place at major airports as the threat level at the high-security facility was raised to maximum.Other measures taken included manual checking of cabin baggage in certain "specific destination flights", increased profiling of passengers, secondary ladder-point checks and enhanced deployment of security personnel in plain clothes.
