Security personnel today hit-back at the naxalites when policemen foiled rebels’ move to attack Bhejji police station in Dantewada district.
Security personnel spotted the movement of naxalites in and around the Bhejji police station that also housed a camp of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The jawans immediately took the position and fired at the rebels.
“It was an offensive move of security personnel and the jawans forced the naxalites to retreat from the place,” Dantewada Superintendent of Police Ankit Garg said. No casualty was however reported from police side, he said, adding that there could be naxal casualty.
Garg said about 50 naxalites were seen moving around in the area. The police suspect that more were camping in the area and would have moved later to attack the police station—about 450 km from here.
The rebels had struck in the area earlier on Saturday and killed three jawans of CRPF besides injuring three others. In last five days, naxalites had attacked security forces three times at different places across restive Bastar; killing 18 personnel.
