Contempt petition against JSPL

The coal ministry has filed a contempt petition against Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) for recording the proceedings of the Delhi High Court during a recent hearing on its disapproved winning bid for Gare Palma-IV/2&3 blocks.

In its petition, the ministry has stated that an executive of JSPL was on March 27 found recording the court proceedings on his mobile phone which was “an abuse of the process of justice”. It has sought a thorough investigation into the matter.

“This petitioner (JSPL) has filed various other petitions in relation to auction of coal mines, and it is likely such an event transpired earlier,” said the application.

The web (LinkedIn) profile of the person who was caught capturing this video has also been attached in the petition by the coal ministry, to prove he is a JSPL executive and “was acting on the directions of the petitioner. Such an approach is prejudicial to the administration of justice”, the application said.
