Global reporting should be transparent and wrong reporting should not be repeated like in the Satyam corporate fraud case. The reporting should be more focused towards consumer awareness, R Karikal Valavan, state commissioner of industries, said. He was speaking at a seminar on sustainability report under Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)-G3 guidelines, organised by the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Fapcci) in association with Partners in Change, Oxfam India and city-based Smaat Aqua Technologies Private Limited. GRI, a project of the United Nations Environment Programme, provides global standard for reporting on a company’s sustainability. G3 guidelines, on the other hand, consist of principles and disclosure items which help reporters define the report content, the quality and give guidance including on materiality and stakeholder inclusiveness.
