Bollywood star, Shah Rukh Khan, will be the official face of Mamata’s ‘Resurgent Bengal’. Immediately after the inaugural ceremony of the 17th Kolkata Film Festival (KFF), Trinamool Congress members used the social network to inform that Khan has been requested by the Chief Minister to become the brand ambassador of Bengal.
Shibaji Panja, member of the festival's film preview committee of KFF tweeted, “Shahrukh Kkan is selected as the new brand ambassador of Resurgent Bengal.”
Though there has not been any confirmation from Khan's side, Derek o Brian, TMC Rajya Sabha MP, posted on Twitter an excerpt from SRK’s conversation with Banerjee over the request. “Call me and I will be here at 48 hour’s notice..." The 17TH edition of Kolkata film festival saw never-before euphoria at Netaji Indoor Stadium where the luminaries from the Tollygunj film industry, literature, theatre, different walks of life, shared the space with the "aam admi".Chief guest Shah Rukh Khan and Sharmila Tagore ignited the ceremonial lamp to kick start the annual film festival of the state.
Around 150 films from 50 countries will be screened at the week-long film festival. The KFF committee had shifted the inaugural venue as a breaking from the tradition of having it at the Nandan film complex to Netaji Indoor Stadium to accommodate more people -- a symbolic gesture to hammer the exclusivity of the festival harnessed by the former Left Front government. For the first time in the history of KFF, a separate listof Bengali movies have been included along with international movies.
