Sharma to participate in IOR-ARC conference in Mauritius

Trade ministers of about 26 countries including India, China, Japan and the US would discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation during the two-day conference in Mauritius from tomorrow.

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma left for the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) Economic and Business Conference.

The theme of the conference is "Deepening Economic Linkages for Balanced, Inclusive and Sustainable Growth".

"The Ministerial level Conference proposes to bring together the Ministers of Commerce and Industry of the 20 IOR-ARC member states and the six dialogue partner states (China, Egypt, France, Japan, UK and USA)," an official statement said.

It also said that on the sidelines of the conference, Sharma would be meeting leaders such as Australian Trade Minister Richard Marles and Mauritius Minister of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection Sayyad Abd-Al-Cader Sayed Hossen.

Besides, he would also have bilateral meetings with ministers from different countries, it added.

IOR-ARC members include Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, UAE.
