The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) today cleared four projects worth Rs 1277.61 crore.
Among the projects that got the nod of the Single Window include the proposal of SMV Breweries to set up a soft drinks bottling plant at Attabira in Bargarh district at a cost of Rs 59.61 crore. The project proponent will make use of ground water and will offer direct employment to 117 people.
Essar Power Orissa Ltd, a subsidiary of Essar Steel got the nod to set up a 120 MW Captive Power Plant (CPP) at an investment of Rs 683 crore. The power plant will provide direct employment to 200 people. The CPP will come up at Paradip, the site of the company's proposed six million tonne per annum (mtpa) greenfield steel plant.
The third project is the one promoted by Investa Ventures Pvt Ltd that has proposed to set up a unit for manufacturing LED (light emitting diodes) bulbs and tubes at an investment of Rs 190 crore. The manufacturing facility would come up at Chandaka Industrial Estate on the outskirts of the city. This project needs eight acres of land and would create direct employment for 470 people.
The project campus will also house an incubation centre where engineers and scientists can carry out research on LED technologies.
SLSWCA also cleared theUltra Tech Cement’s proposal to scale up its capacity from one mtpa at present to three mtpa at a cost of Rs 345 people. The capacity expansion will create 135 new jobs over and above the existing 411 people engaged in the cement plant.
Chairing the SLSWCA meeting, the state Chief Secretary urged the investors in the cement sector to set up their units close to the site of coal-based power plants so that fly ash generated by power plants can be efficiently managed.
