Sinha Presents 2nd Supplementary Demand For Grants For Rs 3,396 Crore

The finance ministry today presented its second supplementary demand for grants for the current fiscal involving a net additional expenditure of Rs 2,025.23 crore.

The aggregate supplementary demands presented by finance minister Yashwant Sinha in Parliament are for Rs 3,396.50 crore. The net addition will push up the aggregate expenditure of the Centre by Rs 3,438.94 crore to reach Rs 3,78,661.94 crore (budget estimates Rs 3,75,223 crore) for the fiscal. The net cash outgo for the first supplementary was Rs 1413.71 crore.

In the current batch, the largest chunk of expenditure is for the ministry of rural development at Rs 1,300 crore. The break up is Rs 800 crore towards food-for-work programme, Rs 275 crore for Employment Assurance Scheme and Rs 225 crore for Jawahar Gram Samriddhi Yojana.

The second batch also includes a sum of Rs 500 crore as additional ways-and-means advances (WMAs) to the state governments.
