Six agro-food parks

The Government of Karnataka has set up a special purpose vehicle, Food Karnataka Ltd (FKL), with the aim of facilitating and developing six agro food parks in Malur (60 acres), Bagalkot (100 acres), Jewargi (105 acres), Hiriyur (50 acres), Maddur (60 acres) and Kangrali (100 acres).
 
According to a statement from FKL, the main objectives of FKL will be to promote private sector investment in setting up agro-food technology parks, agro-export zones, position Karnataka as the ideal location for investors in India's food industry and to build the 'Grown and Processed' in Karnataka as an internationally-recognised symbol of quality.
