The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) of the Orissa government today approved projects worth Rs 30,000 crore in diverse sectors like power, steel, downstream and ore beneficiation.
It also approved capacity enhancement of some units and gave its nod to the site change proposal of 5 projects. Combinedly, these proposals are expected to employ 47,000 persons directly and provide livelihood to another one lakh persons indirectly.
The SLSWCA meeting chaired by chief secretary approved 10 new proposals including the Rs 15,820 crore investment plan of Amtek Metals and Mining Ltd (AMML) to set up an integrated auto-complex at Tangi and enhancement of capacity of Aditya Aluminium Ltd (AAL) at Raygada.
Briefing the media after the meeting the industry secretary, Saurabh Garg and chairman-managing director (CMD) of the state owned Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation (Ipicol), Suresh Chandra Patnayak said, the Amtek proposal included setting up of a 2 million tonne per annum (mtpa) steel plant and a 500 Mw power plant at Tangi.
This will be the first integrated auto component-steel-power complex and would provide direct and indirect employment to 33,000 persons. The facilities to come up in the proposed complex included iron and steel foundry, steel forging plant, ring gear blank plant and steel fabrication plant among others.
The auto components to be produced in the complex are axle housing hubs, brake drums, transmission housing, steering arm, front hub, gear blank, connecting rods, front axle, ring blank for manufacturing of automotive ring gear and boiler structure among others. The proposal has been recommended to the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik for consideration.
Two downstream stainless parks, one by JSL at Kalinganagar and the other by Adhunik Metaliks at Kuanaemunda near Rourkela, received the nod of SLSWCA. While Adhunik Metaliks would invest about Rs 286 crore for the downstream park, JSL would invest Rs 704 crore.

The stainless steel downstream park of JSL is expected to house seventy one units. It will generate employment opportunities for 7000 persons. Similarly, the stainless steel downstream park proposed by Adhunik Metaliks will generate employment for 5700 persons.
The J K Cement would set up a 1 mtpa steel plant at Chaudwar-Athagarh area at an investment of Rs 79 crore. It will use the fly ash being generated by the steel plants.
The proposal of the BOC Ltd. to set up an air separation park within the premises of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at an investment of Rs 434.6 crore, was given green signal today.
SLSWCA also approved two power proposals namely the 1320 Mw power plant proposed by Adhunik Power and Natural Resources at Birmaharajpur in Sonepur district. The project, which will have the status of an Independent Power Producer (IPP), will entail an investment of Rs 4000 crore and will create employment opportunities for 1600 persons. Super critical technology will be adopted by the company for the project which will come up over 1000 acres of land. Similarly, the proposal of Bijaya Ferro Power Private Ltd to set up a 120 Mw power plant, with IPP status, at an investment of Rs 550 crore at Kesinga got the nod of the committee. Facor Power’s proposal to set up a 45 Mw captive power plant (CPP) at Randia at an investment of Rs 200 crore and Gontermann Peipers proposal to set up a 5 mtpa beneficiation plant at Barbil and 5 mtpa pelletisation plant at Dhamra at an investment of Rs 1608 crore were also given go ahead signal.
