S K Das, chief post master general (CPMG) West Bengal circle said, it was the reliability which prompted people to deposit their savings in the post offices. The circle generated revenues of Rs 335 crore in the last year and has fixed a target of Rs 410 crore in the current year.
The CPMG further stated that the main thrust was to improve postal operations in the suburbs of Kolkata and to achieve this the city PIN code area had been extended. The objective was to bring postal facilities in the suburbs at par with Kolkata.
The postal department would also start a new scheme by which amount accrued in the monthly income scheme would be directly deposited in any bank as per customer
