Vadodara's first industrial estate Makarpura GIDC is turning into a hub of diminutive size industries with an ever swelling number of small scale entrepreneurs.

Nilesh Shukla, secretary of Vadodara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VCCI), said "Since last one year, around 300 to 400 such small size units have been set up in GIDC."

The reason is that all the closed down industries are disposing off there land space to the contractors, who in turn, built small units or sheds for resale to the small entrepreneurs, he added.

However, the ever surge of small entrepreneurs in the estate, has boosted the industrial activity in and around the GIDC area.

"The entrance of the small size entrepreneur has raised the competition level in GIDC which in turn has increased the quality of the products", said Shukla.

Majority of these small entrepreneurs are involved in manufacturing engineering, electrical and fabrication products.
