Sonia to Cong MPs: Gear up for electionsBS Reporter / New Delhi March 11, 2008Without referring to the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement that could catapult her government into unexpected elections, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today told her parliamentary party - an assembly of party MPs from the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha - to prepare for assembly elections and the "inevitability of Lok Sabha elections next year."Conceding that the election results in North East were "very disappointing," Gandhi put the blame on party colleagues overseeing the elections and the organisation: "The simple lesson is that we need hard work and meticulous preparation, more careful selection of candidates and strategies, greater unity and discipline," she said. She said it was time for party leaders to take the message to the people that "the plain and simple truth is that it is our party and our government that has taken bold measures.""We will go into these polls with an outstanding record of achievements - both in terms of government programmes and legislations enacted. These achievements should earn for us the trust and mandate of the people once again," she said.Complimenting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
