CUT SUBSIDY for big industrial houses instead of imposing heavy taxes on the common man. It is for the government to decide what to do with ministers who fail to tackle inflation and rising fuel prices.
Impact: Widely seen as an attack on Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Petroleum Minister Murli Deora.
THE GOVERNMENT should start anti-hoarding drives against big retailers like Reliance Fresh to check the recent rise in prices.
Impact: Could hurt Reliance Fresh, also owned by Mukesh Ambani
THERE SHOULD be a CBI inquiry into the allotment of extra spectrum to GSM service providers. Private GSM players have "hoarded more than 50 MHz" airwaves, resulting in loss of thousands of crores to the exchequer.
Impact: On all GSM mobile players. Supports the view of Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications, which recently got a nationwide GSM licence
THE GOVERNMENT should not accept the department of telecom's recommendation on spectrum allocation and raise spectrum charges. Writes to the prime minister that the value of spectrum beyond the contracted value of 6.2 Mhz should be assessed in a different manner and operators asked to pay a one-time fixed charge at the rate of Rs 375 crore per Mhz. Says this can raise Rs 10,000 crore for the government.
Impact: On all existing GSM mobile players. It raises costs for Reliance Communication also, but benefits the company in the long term
