Samajwadi Party, a key constituent of the Fourth Front, today kept its cards close to the chest about its role in government formation before the results of Lok Sabha elections are out.
"I will not speak anything before May 16 (date for counting of votes). I will not meet or talk to anybody before the announcement of results," SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters here.
SP, which supports the UPA from outside, along with alliance partners RJD and LJP formed a Fourth Front ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad has also spoken in similar vein. However, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan has said that his party was not averse to supporting any alternative secular government if UPA fails to get the numbers, but the final decision will be taken jointly by the Fourth Front.
The role of the Front will assume significance in government formation with various exit polls projecting a hung Parliament.
On exit polls indicating poor performance by the SP, Yadav said he did not trust such surveys. Asked about party general secretary Amar Singh's statement that he would retire from politics after the elections, Yadav said, "I have told him that he should take care of his health".
