Sp Plans Stir Over Cane Price

The Uttar Pradesh unit of Samajwadi Party has decided to launch a massive agitation from January 7, demanding better price for cane farmers. Talking to reporters here yesterday, state party unit president Ram Saran Das said the agitation would include dharna and demonstrations at the gates of sugar mills and the district headquarters of the state. Reiterating his partys demand, he urged the state government to ensure payment of Rs 76 per quintal to cane growers supplying their produce to private mills. Das said the agitation would continue till their demand was met.
