Special incentives for milk producers in Uttarakhand

There are over two lakh milk producers ni the state with otal poduction of 3,85 lakh liters per day

In a bid to increase milk production in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Tuesday announced a special incentive of Rs 2 a litre for all the milk producers in the hill state.

Speaking at a function of the state-run Anchal Dairy here, Bahuguna said more such incentives would be given next year also in order to boost the milk production. There are two lakh milk producers in the state with a total production of 3.85 lakh litres per day.

In order to generate more employments through dairy development, the state government has launched a host of schemes in the state. The government has also announced a cooperative training institute at Lal Kaun in Kumaon region in the dairy development sector.

Bahuguna said since a large number of women are associated with the dairy farming in the state, the government is trying its best to provide modern techniques in the sector.  “If we have to empower women, then we must provide them modern techniques in sectors like dairy development,” he said.
