Supporting BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani's contention on flight of black money to Swiss banks, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has said that Rs 12 crore extra developmental fund could be provided to every village of the country if the stashed money returns to India.
“On an average Rs 12 crore additional development fund can be provided to every revenue village if the black money to the tune of Rs 25-70 lakh crores stashed in Swiss bank returns to India,” Dhumal told reporters here last night.
He said according to an estimate around Rs 1.25 lakh crore goes to foreign banks every year from the country and questioned UPA's silence on the issue.
During the meet, he also repeated his allegation against the Centre for ‘discriminating’ against BJP-ruled states like HP on development front.
He alleged that UPA curtailed by three years the original 10 years tenure of the Special Industrial Package provided to HP, Uttaranchal in 2003 by NDA because these states are ruled by BJP while the same package continues in J-K as Congress is in alliance with National Conference there.
In reply to a question, he said after seeing the final pay hikes in neighbouring Punjab where the Pay Commission has submitted it report, HP would follow suit.
