Karnataka has accepted some recommendations of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission headed by K Kasturirangan, for improving the education system in colleges and universities. A recommendation accepted by the government is to develop the Mysore and Karnatak Universities in Dharwad as model universities.
Kasturirangan, who had discussions with chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, here on Thursday, said the initiatives of the state have been well appreciated by the Centre and willing to support the state in its effort. Kasturirangan promised to take up this at the national level. The recommendations of the knowledge commission will also help improve the job opportunities for the students in the state, he said.
“The awareness level of the students joining government colleges is increasing and they are asking for such courses which will help them in getting jobs” he said.
He said his discussions with the chief minister were fruitful, as the government has accepted the recommendations. “We will do our best in making qualitative change in the field of higher education,” he said.
Kasturirangan assured the meeting that he would seek the cooperation and assistance from the Planning Commission to implement the projects related to Karnataka state.
