In an attempt to curb plying of unauthorised vehicles the Karnataka government has computerised issue of permits of goods and passenger vehicles.
Transport minister R Ashok, who launched the new programme, said with the implementation of computerisation about 50,000 goods and 6,000 inter-state passenger vehicles would get permits on the spot.
This would help avoid delays, he said.
The government has already computerised Regional Transport Offices for issue of smart cards to vehicle owners,he said.
To a query, he said the government has no plans to put off the elections to Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, the city corporation, and it would be held on February 21 as per the calender of events already announced.
The government would soon submit list of reservation of wards to the state high court in compliance of an order issued to this effect last week, Ashok, one of the ministers for Bangalore City Development, said.
