State Data Centre to be implemented by October

Orissa is among the five states in the country where the implementation of the State Data Centre (SDC), a project being taken up under the Centrally sponsored National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), is in advanced stages of implementation.

The SDC project is expected to be fully implemented in Orissa by the end of October this year, according to a report of the Department of Information Technology (DIT) of the Government of India.

The other states where the implementation of SDC is in advanced stages are Tripura, Gujarat, Sikkim and West Bengal.

The SDC project is being implemented in the state at a cost of Rs 75 crore.

The state level Centralized Data Centre in Orissa will have a centralized office at the Orissa Computer Application Centre.

This state of the art data centre will maintain data of all the departments of the state government and we expect this e-governance project to be fully implemented by December this year

The state has also made significant headway in the implementation of other e-governance projects.The Orissa State Wide Area Network (OSWAN), also under NeGP, is set to be commissioned by September this year.

Request for Proposal is being prepared for the State Service Delivery Gateway project.

It has been proposed to roll out 8558 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the state and these CSCs are under various stages of completion.

The e-district project being taken up in Ganjam district is set to be operational by October this year while the e-municipality and e-registration projects are under implementation.

The state IT department has received Rs 296 crore from the Government of India in the past four years. As per the estimates of the department, Rs 500 crore is to be spent over the 2-3 years on the implementation of 50 e-governance projects in the state under the Centre's National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) and the State Plan.
