Karnataka government has identified about 100 projects to be implemented on public-private-partnership model, involving an investment of more than Rs 68,000 crore, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani today said.
Speaking at an interaction with Prime Minister of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry, he said the government has identified over 100,000 acres under the land bank scheme for industries. “...We have already issued notification to acquire about 83,000 acres,” he said.
Noting that the state had entered into an MoU with 389 companies with a total envisaged investment of about Rs 87.5 billion, during the global investors’ meet last year, Nirani said 19 of those projects have already started production and 222 projects are under implementation.
“We will be conducting next global investors meet in June 2012. I request Slovenia to become a partner country for this event. This would help investors of both the countries to explore investment opportunities in Karnataka and Slovenia,” the Minister said.
He said 52 special economic zones have been approved in the state and 20 of them are operational.
