State logs 100% spending under PMGSY in FY13

Detailed project reports for 343 roads with a length of 1,184.06 km have been prepared

The state government has recorded more than 100 per cent utilization of funds under the Centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in 2012-13.

Odisha utilized Rs 9735.81 crore against Rs 9711.80 crore released last fiscal under PMGSY. The amount was sanctioned for taking up construction of 10518 km of roads with a total length of 41260.28 km. Work on 6828 km of roads has been completed covering 8773 habitations.In the current fiscal, construction of 1148 km of PMGSY roads has been completed (till November end) connecting 233 habitations at a cost of Rs 857 crore. It has been targeted to cover 5127 more habitations at an investment of Rs 743 crore by the end of 2013-14.The detailed project reports (DPRs) for 343 roads with a length of 1184.06 km have been prepared.

According to available data, PMGSY projects worth Rs 6000 crore are to be implemented in the state.  To expedite PMGSY work, the state government has decided to rope in National Bridge Construction Cooperation (NBCC) and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) as executing agencies.

NBCC will be entrusted with PMGSY work worth Rs 200 crore in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore districts. Similarly, work worth Rs 200 crore in Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts would be entrusted to CPWD.
