The Maharashtra government will incorporate amendments to the value-added tax (VAT) that comes into force from April 1, 2003, based on the suggestions on tax administration and procedures made by industry and the trading community, chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde said today.
He added that the introduction of VAT would simplify the taxation system, help mobilise more revenue for the state and also give benefits to the consumers.
Already the state government has introduced the Maharashtra Value Added Sales Tax Act, 2002, before the state legislature after effecting 41 amendments on the suggestions made by the Democratic Front (DF) members.
