According to M C R Shetty, president, Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (Kassia), the release of subsidy will be a big relief to SSI units in the state as they were waiting for their subsidy arrears for the past five years. Though the government has cleared a large chunk of subsidy arrears in one shot, still Rs 30 crore arrears are pending, he told reporters.
He said the work on Kassia Udyog Bhavan (KUB), built at a cost of Rs 10 crore, has been almost completed and it will be inaugurated by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on June 23.
The KUB houses a product display centre, a small industry library with e-information facility, an auditorium with video conferencing facility among others. It will also house Kassia Centre for Quality Development and Research, international sub-contract exchange with UNIDO participation and Kassia Techno-Economic Research and Development Centre sponsored by Canara Bank.
