The state finance department has started the process to select officers for the post of Orissa Taxation and Accounts Service (OTAS) for the year 2012, according to a recent notification.
The government has asked all department secretaries and collectors to send their recommendations for the selection process. According to the OTAS Rules 2011, out of 100 posts for recruitment, only 20 per cent can be filled through selection, 30 per cent by promotion of existing officers and rest by competitive examinations. The selection process notification indicates more jobs in the accounting and services in the upcoming financial year. However, the state government did not specify how much post it aims to fill up in 2012-13. The government is in short of class-II employees after it promoted Orissa Administrative Services (OAS) officers and doctors to the rank of Junior Class-I.
The new OTAS officers will be employed in various departments of the government keeping in view of the rapid industrialization taking place in the state.
