States Put On High Alert

Apprehending a serious law and order problem in the country, the government has sounded alert in all states as the toll in an attack on passengers of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra railway station in East Gujarat rose to 55, including 25 women.

Official reports reaching here suggest that some bogies carrying kar sevaks from Ayodhya had been torched by miscreants around 7.20 this morning. Reports from the state government said miscreants attacked the passenger train five minutes after it left the railway station.
