Several states have asked the Centre for rescheduling of their debts and convention of an all-party meeting to evolve a common ground on labour reforms.
Briefing reporters on the outcome of the National Development Council meeting, held here on Saturday, Planning Commission deputy chairman K C Pant said, the states argued that if the Centre cut the interest rates on the annual plan funds, their interest burden would decline significantly.
They have sought lowering of the interest rates on the central government loans and change in the loan grant ratio from 70:30 to 50:50.
Citing difficult financial positions, he said, some states have also asked for rescheduling of debts.
