The Delhi High Court has recently granted an injunction against the selling of reconditioned compressors and components under the trademarks, Kirloskar and Copeland.
Notice has been issued to the defendant, Gopal Krishan of Paragon Refrigerations, who was allegedly buying jammed, spoiled and old compressors from the second-hand market or scrap dealers and after rewinding and reconditioning the old ones were selling them by affixing duplicate and spurious labels.
The court also appointed a local commissioner to raid the premises of Gopal Krishan.

Kirloskar Copeland had filed three other similar cases against Daljeet Singh of Super Star Engineers, Veejay Trehan of Vee Kay Enterprises and AR Pant of Premier Electricals.
Kirloskar Copeland counsel Man Mohan Singh submitted that the spurious labels are distinguishable from the original ones in that the model numbers are written in a different manner and the label sizes are also different.
The reconditioned compressors have uneven suction tube edges and discharge tube edges as they are welded by hand. These distinguish the spurious products from the new ones.
Moreover, the serial numbers are crudely engraved on the shells by machines used in the case of utensils. Singh submitted that the counterfeit compressors are sold in Delhi and its surrounding areas.
Singh submitted that the defendants were doing an illegal business by trading upon the goodwill and reputation of Kirloskar Copeland
