The Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) chairman & managing director P B Nimbalkar today exhorted all the banks in Gujarat to step up the flow of credit to small scale industrial (SSI) units affected by the Republic day earthquake in Kutch, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Ahmedabad.
Nimbalkar was speaking at a meeting held here today to review the relief package envisaging aggregate assistance of Rs 210 crore announced by his bank for these districts in February 2001.
The package included special refinance limits of an aggregate amount of Rs 125 crore to Gujarat State Financial Corporation (GSFC), Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation (GIIC) and to commercial banks as well as direct assistance of Rs 65 crore for infrastructure and other schemes.
