Chief minister VS Achuthanandan on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Cyberpark, which is coming up on 43 acres in Kozhikode. He also launched the project for UL Cyberpark being set up by the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society, adjacent to the Cyberpark.
Both the projects would be fully commissioned by 2015 and create direct employment for 70,000 IT professionals and indirect for over a lakh. The Cyberpark will have ‘incubation centres’ for start-ups on a built-up space of 50,000 sft. These centres can host 300 startups.
Though India’s overall software exports had slowed down (17.62 per cent) on account of the slowdown, those from Kerala grew 43.41 percent till February-end, fetching revenues of Rs 2,300 crore, said Ajay Kumar, principal secretary – IT.
