Vehicular traffic has been paralyzed on the Chandikhole-Paradip national highway and the Cuttack-Paradip state highway for the past two days as thousands of trucks loaded with iron ore have been stranded on these roads. Around 7000 trucks are stranded on these two roads out of which 2000 trucks are overloaded.
Kartik Mallick, inspector in charge of Paradip police station said, “Vehicular traffic has been seriously paralysed as 7000 trucks have been stranded. Police officials have been pressed into service to clear the roads.”
The overloaded trucks have been prevented from unloading the cargo belonging to the different exporters, at the Paradip port by the PPT authorities as there is a variation between the permit and weight challan. The PPT authorities have become vigilant after the officials of the mines department questioned the PPT authorities on the quantity of iron ore exports.
