Dominique Strauss-Kahn's lawyers have asked the US prosecutors to drop the sexual assault charges levelled by a hotel maid against the former IMF chief and said he would not plead guilty to any crime to reach a plea deal.
During a meeting with Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr, Strauss-Kahn's lawyers demanded that sexual assault charges against their client be dropped.
"The meeting with Mr Vance and his staff was very constructive. It is important to understand that the meeting was not to discuss a plea bargain, as Dominique Strauss-Kahn will not be pleading guilty to any crime," his lawyer Ben Brafman told The New York Post after two-hour session with prosecutors in Vance's office in Lower Manhattan, this week.
Last week, it emerged that the maid herself has been lying to investigators.
The 32-year-old maid's lies has weakened the prosecution's case but did not immediately lead to a dismissal of the case against him.
"The investigative process is continuing, and no decisions have been made," Erin Duggan, Vance's spokesperson said.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, however, was released from house arrest but is required to stay in the US as evidence gathering continues.
The lawyers could come to an agreement before the next court date on July 18.
Strauss-Kahn, 62, was accused of forcing the maid to perform oral sex. He was taken into custody a few minutes before his Air France flight departed for Paris in May.
