Study centres to be upgraded

Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) has tied up with MSSRF to upgrade 30 NSOU study centres to rural knowledge centres.
 
The study centres would be provided with information on health, education, weather, agriculture through radio, internet and cable TV.
 
In a parallel development, the state IT department has finalised plan to implement West Bengal State Wide Area Network (WBSWAN) in Burdwan, the largest and most prosperous of the state's districts.
 
G D Gautama, principal secretary (IT), said Rs 12 crore would be spent in reaching internet to all villages of the district.
