Sunday to Monday only Gopinath Munde... Munde is great and he will not quit the party... Gadkari do not dare to take on tiger Munde...
The infighting within the Maharashtra unit of the BJP over Gopinath Munde has triggerred a Facebook campaign by a group of Munde loyalists. Even senior BJP office bearer Neeta Kelkar has come out in Munde’s support. “Munde is great and we all should support him. I think he will not quit. Don’t worry.”
Organised by Keshav Upadhye and Ujwal Keskar, the campaign to mobilise support for Munde has been picking up with every passing hour: “Support Loknete Gopinath Munde to save Maharashtra”.This move comes close on the heels of a section of the BJP insisting on sacking Munde from the party for taking the party organisation to ransome for personal ambitions. After much dillydallying the party’s central leadership has decided to convene a meeting with state party leaders on June 18.
Munde has expressed his displeasure over the party’s decision to appoint the Pune unit chief from the rival camp headed by party national president Nitin Gadkari. Munde has subsequently abstained from the joint rally organised against the Congress-NCP government by the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance and its new partner the dalit dominated Republican Party of India.
While one supporter criticised Gadkari and party legislator Vinod Tawde for trying to reprimand Munde, another claimed that Gadkari should be grateful to Munde because it was because of him that Gadkari was the party president today. Supporters were of the opinion that both Munde and Gadkari should patch up in the larger interest of the party — to defeat the Congress-NCP combine in the ensuing Assembly polls.
The Facebook campaign was launched following media reports that Munde could join the Congress party. Besides, Munde had twice met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, who has reportedly promised that if the BJP-Shiv Sena wrestles power from the Congress-NCP combine in the 2014 state assembly elections, he would support Munde as the chief minister. There were also reports that Munde has been talking to Union Rural Development Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh for joining the Congress.
