The Indian Industries Association (IIA) has launched a comprehensive Industry survey in Uttar Pradesh for the benefit of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)

The survey, being conducted through IIA Lucknow chapter, will collect relevant statistics on raw material requirements, finances, health of the organisation, investment level and also identify the products and marketing of the same.

Talking to Business Standard, DS Verma, executive director, IIA, said, "It will be an elaborate exercise taking in account a number of factors such as annual turnover, current import tariff, growth plans of the industry and most important the Harmonised Systems Nomenclature (HSN) code of the products, which generally are not covered under the normal census."

Verma said in the age of globalisation and intense competition, the Indian industrial associations in India needed to redesign their activities and focus on instilling a sense of competitiveness among the MSMEs. The activities have to be need based which require comprehensive data about various aspects of the industries.

"The primary motive behind such a survey is to put together the demands of these small industries as a cumulative order to procure their requirements, along with providing a number of benefits to the entrepreneurs," added Verma.

The data collected would be utilised for the benefit of MSMEs not only by IIA but by all the government and non-government agencies working for their uplift.
