The State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand (SIDCUL) would cancel all those industrial plots in notified areas where no construction work has been taken up so far.

Following a directive of Chief Minister BC Khanduri, top officials said the SIDCUL would cancel the allotment of all those plots where industries failed to put up new units in the hope to avail sops under the tax holiday scheme. A survey in this regard has already been initiated, they said.

At a recent meeting in Rudrapur in Kumaon region, Khanduri had directed the SIDCUL officials to immediately cancel all those plots in industrial estates of Haridwar, Pantnagar, IT Park, Sahasdhara Road, Dehra Dun, Kotdwar, Selaquie and other government lands where plots have not been utilised for industrial purposes.

"We are identifying all those plots which are lying vacant for the past two years despite allotments being done there," said an official.

In this regard, the official said the SIDCUL would shortly take action against two plot owners at the Haridwar industrial estate as they failed to start construction within the stipulated period of two years' time after the allotment.

After the completion of the survey, similar action would also be initiated against other erring industrial units. Once the cancellation exercise is completed, fresh allotments of the cancelled plots would again be initiated, the officials said.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to prepare a concrete plan for all those notified industrial areas before going for the resale of these plots.

With a view to providing all facilities to the entrepreneurs at one place, Khanduri also directed to implement Single Window System effectively. Besides, implementation of decisions taken in the meetings of Udyog Mitra should be ensured, he said.

In a bid to ensure 70 percent job avenues to the local youths in the industrial units, he directed Secretary Employment to carry out proper auditing of employment exchange data. It should be monitored at district level also, he added.
