The matches of Champions League T20 cricket tournament, scheduled to begin here from tomorrow, will fill the Delhi government coffers by over Rs three crore.

The capital will host eight matches of the high-profile sporting event and the government will earn Rs 3.18 crore as entertainment tax from the tournament, officials said.

The tournament to be participated by top T20 teams from India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies, will begin tomorrow and Delhi will host its first match the next day.

The other venues for the event are Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The officials said the government was also considering imposing entertainment tax on fashion shows as well.

The Delhi government is facing a slump in revenue collection in the current fiscal prompting chief minister Sheila Dikshit to direct her officials to look for ways to meet the shortfall.

The state government reported a fall of over Rs 400 crore in collection of tax revenue in the first four months of the current fiscal, the officials said.
