Tamil Nadu reported 93 stoppage of works, 23 lock outs in 35 months

State administration claims all have been resolved after its interference

Industries in Tamil Nadu witnessed 93 stoppage of works and 23 lockouts in 35 months during the tenure of the ruling AIADMK government. The administration said most of these were sorted out after the government's intervention through its labour department.

Labour and rural industries minister said between April 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014, the state reported 21 strikes, 6 lock outs and all these were resolved through dialogue.There were also 8,569 industrial disputes and in the last 12 months of which 7,193 were resolved.

"The state government is taking steps to reduce the number of cases in the labour court", he said, adding there were 2,498 cases in court.
