Chief minister, K Rosaiah, has approved allotment of 80 acres of land at Aganampudi village in Visakhapatnam district for the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) where it proposes to set up its second campus.
Rosaiah, who moved to the chief minister’s chambers in 'C' block of the secretariat on Monday, issued orders allocating the land stating that the TMC campus was the dream project of late chief minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
TMC, an autonomous grant-in-aid institution under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy, proposes to develop its campus in a phased manner.
In the first phase, it proposes to set up a 100-bedded hospital , which will offer a complete range of services to cancer patients. In the second phase, it plans to set up a research centre exclusively for cancer. The Phase III plan is to set up a nursing school and an advanced school on epidemiology. TCS currently has a 74-acre campus at Mumbai.
