Adilabad district, viewed as an exception among the four North Telangana districts and a strong bastion of Telugu Desam, may have some surprises in store for the ruling party this time.

Though former Union minister and TDP candidate S Venugopalachary is all set to retain the Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency for the third consecutive time, the party may lose some sitting Assembly segments this time.

Interestingly, denial of ticket to textile minister Padala Bhumanna, is helping Congress get back its long lost Adilabad Assembly seat into its fold. P Ramachandra Reddy, a former minister and Congress candidate, has emerged a forerunner as Jogula Ramanna, TDP's new face, is considered a weak candidate. A similar outcome is expected in Asifabad where TDP has changed its candidate. CPI candidate is expected to win from there.

G Nagesh, a former minister and TDP candidate, is also said to be fighting a losing battle in the Boath segment where anti-incumbency factor along with TRS presence is considerably high. K V Narayana Rao, who resigned from TDP after he had been denied the party ticket, gained an edge as a TRS candidate over his BJP rival.

TDP candidates in Khanapur and Sirpur (T) segments are said to be very much ahead of their rivals in the run-up to the elections.

In Chennur segment, TDP candidate Boda Janardhan is facing a stiff fight from G Vinod, son of former Union minister G Venkataswamy. Coming to Congress, it may lose its Laxettipet Assembly constituency and retain Niramal seat.
