Geoscan Digital, a division of Pune-based Chordia Technologies, has entered into the business of remote sensing and geographical information system (GIS) to conduct natural resources inventory, planning and management for the commercial sector in India and abroad.

The new division of Chordia has already undertaken investments in setting-up the necessary hardware and software for the GIS which is capable of assembling, analysing and integrating geographically referenced information.

According to Vivek Kale of Geoscan Digital, GIS can serve as a very effective planning tool as it allows different types of data to be integrated with spatial information in order to aid better visualisation of patterns and relationships.

The new division of Chordia Technologies plans to offer its services for applications of remote sensing and GIS for agricultural management, market analysis, urban and rural planning, mining and exploration, watershed management. This technology has been extensively used in the developed world.
