"The business this time was good and a good number of buyers turned up during the two-day exposition at the Birla Auditorium. About 77 participants mostly from Jaipur displayed their products worth over Rs 500 crores on 48,000 square feet area," said Vivek Khandelwal, executive council member of the Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR). |

Mostly, ladies' garments made of cotton, accessories and home furnishings, knitted and woven garments, made-ups etc are exported from Rajasthan. Khandelwal said the garment industry in Rajasthan had grown at a fast pace in the past few years. |

"In 2001 exports were of Rs 400 crore, which more than doubled to Rs 900 crore in 2005 and it is expected that exports would shoot up by nearly 100 per cent in 2007 to Rs 1,600 crore," he said. |

The Jaipur fair was promoted at international level and enough public relation work was done during the Hong Kong and Delhi shows where buyers were invited to visit the Jaipur fair. |

This time ae also tried to target new markets like Australia, Israel, Turkey, Middle East, Taiwan and Korea and the results were encouraging, he added. |

Talking about the importance of this fair, Khandelwal said that these kinds of expos are also learnning experience for us. "Through them we are able to learn about the fashion trends, and it also gives us feedback on our strengths and weaknesses," Khandelwal added. |

Khandelwal informed that new buying inquires and business possibilities are there in worldwide market and this kind of fair helps the buyers and exporters to come together at same level to discuss and explore possibilities of joint venture. |

Leading exporters of Rajasthan exhibited their products of latest trend in fashion and also negotiate business deals for the next season. |

"Around 10,000 buyers were invited from all over the world. A grand fashion show too was held to display forthcoming fashions," Khandelwal said. |
