BJP yesterday described as undemocratic and unwarranted Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackrays reported threat to prevent Union railway minister Ram Vilas Paswan from entering Mumbai.
Replying to a question at a press conference, BJP general secretary Govindacharya said such a thinking smacked of anti-democratic attitude and hoped it was a rhetoric by Thackeray.
Govindacharya, however, noted that Thackeray had since then withdrawn his reported call.
Answering another question, he said he was against banning Arun Shouries book Worshipping false gods which is in the thick of a controversy for its comments on B R Ambedkar. There should be academic freedom. Let academicians debate it, as Dalit writers have said, he said adding a ban on the book could not be the recourse.
