Amidst growing pressure from the BJP-JD(S) combine on the Centre for revocation of President's rule in Karnataka, governor Rameshwar Thakur today met union home minister Shivraj Patil and apprised him of the prevailing situation in the state.Thakur is believed to have handed over a report - that basically is his own assessment of the political equations in the southern state to Patil. The latest round of crisis comes as the BJP and JD(S) are claiming to be enjoying a majority support of 129 MLAs in the 224-member Legislative Assembly. The coalition partners are seeking revocation of the President's rule and formation of a government.Centre's new step in Karnataka would largely depend on the contents of the Governor's report, sources said.BJP's state chief B S Yddyurrappa along with senior party leaders had met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh last week with a similar demand.JD(S) and BJP were running a coalition government in the state till October 7 when they parted ways after the former refused to transfer chief ministership to the saffron party.During the meeting, as the political crisis continued with the coalition partners not able to resolve their internal crisis, Governor Thakur had imposed President's rule while keeping the Legislative assembly in suspended animation.BJP sources said the coalition partners are likely to present all the 129 supporting MLAs before President Pratibha Patil this evening. The JD(S)-BJP have threatened to launch an agitation if not invited to form the government in Karnataka. The coalition's chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa said the parties were getting restive with the Governor delaying an invitation for government formation to them. He had met Thakur last week and was hopeful of a "positive response."The BJP is wary of JD(S) rebel leader M P Prakash engineering a split in the party to form a coalition government with the support of the Congress party.
